Brainstorm ways in which we can try to predict and reduce the impact of earthquakes.

 
     
 

Group work activity:

Plan a survival kit for an earthquake - think about what you would need to include. Use this sheet to help you.

 

Individual task:

  • What can we do to try to predict volcanic activity?
  • Watch a video clip of the film 'Dante's Peak'. Make notes on the methods the characters use to predict the volcanic activity.
  • Now write up your findings. Use the writing frame 'how realistic is the film?'.
