Globalisation:

Do we pay a fair price for our clothes?

This project provides an insight into the way that companies, ideas and lifestyles are spreading around the world with increasing ease.

LEARNING OUTCOMES :

By the end of this scheme of work you should be able to :

  • Understand that materials for goods may be sourced from many different countries.
  • Appreciate that globalisation is largely promoted by large multinational companies who make large profits by trading with countries where wages are low and working conditions are poor.
  • Realise that the consumer can have a key role in ensuring that workers get fairly treated.

 

ASSESSMENT :

A role playing exercise on ‘Who is the fashion victim?’ to show an understanding of the work of globalisation.

  • What effect does globalisation have on workers and working conditions?
