- What are your opinions on smoking? Discuss with a partner and then write down 3 words to describe how you feel about it?
- Research the new smoking ban. Do you think this will encourage people to stop smoking? Write your answer down explaining your reasons.
- Go to the following website and research what is in a cigarette, what harm smoking can do to the body and then complete the quiz to see how much you have learnt http://www.mindbodysoul.gov.uk/
- Ask your teacher to do a demo which shows the amount of tar in a cigarette.
- Search the internet for videos (or ask your teacher to show some) on the effect of smoking related conditions, such as emphysema. You can then link these with statistics on the number of working days lost through illness with these conditions, the cost to employers and the cost to the NHS.
- Define passive smoking and then assess the risks to your own health.
