- Discuss with a partner why people carry donor cards. Do they know anyone that carries one or who has needed a transplant? Would you carry one yourself?
- Your teacher will ask you now to watch a video on organ transplants. Listen carefully as you may be asked questions on it later.
- Kidney transplants are far cheaper than kidney dialysis and give the patient more independence. However, the demand is high and depends on being able to obtain fresh healthy kidneys in which the tissue is alive. Under your title “organ transplantation” suggests the ethical and moral issues raised by kidney dialysis and kidney transplantation. Has the video changed YOUR mind about donating?
