and write down the two types of wave - we will mainly deal with one type this year and you will look at the other type next year. Which type of waves are electromagnetic waves? What are their properties? You will look at various parts of the electromagnetic spectrum in the "Heating Bill", "Communication", "Smoke Alarm" and "Space" sections. Also use Help Sheet "Waves" to help you.

Your teacher may show you the differences between the two types of wave, using a slinky.

Now sketch a wave and label the following on it: a trough, a crest, amplitude, wavelength. Write down the definition and units for frequency and write down the wave equation.
