Parent Forum

This year, Parent Forum meetings have become a regular fixture on both academies' calendars. Each academy has its own Parents' Forum and organizing team which oversee meeting arrangements. The Forums help parents to keep-up-speed with school developments and work closely with the Parent Governors, school Senior Management Team and Board of Governors. Everyone benefits - the school, the parent and, most of all, the students.

You automatically become a Parents' Forum member if you have a child at either academy.

Since their inception at Cornwallis and New Line Learning Academies in March 2008, good progress has been made on a number of fronts and with the new school builds, both Forums are well placed to provide opportunities for parents to meet with the project team to discuss issues as they arise. We will also be working on ways to foster each academy's community.

A number of projects have been identified where parents would make a very welcome contribution.

New Line Learning

• Setting up a PTA.
• Improving student attendance.

Cornwallis

• Setting up a new PTA.
• Helping students' literacy groups.
• Development of the Learning Gateway (on-line access to your child's academic progress).

Parents/ carers can get involved in these projects that will make a real difference to both academy communities, especially the students. The Parent Forum meetings provide a central hub, but extra help is needed to make the projects happen, so without your active involvement, they simply will not happen. Your active support, however great or small, is very welcome.
