Courtney Tulloch Returns to his Roots

Olympic athlete and Commonwealth Games gold medallist Courtney Tulloch returned to his roots at New Line Learning Academy after his recent success in Australia.

Courtney made his return where he spoke to a room full of students about his recent success at the Commonwealth Games and the sacrifices he made in order to achieve his two gold and silver medals. Students were also given the opportunity to take pictures with Courtney and his medals.

During his time with us, Courtney joined Pegasus Gym where he developed a serious interest in gymnastics. Courtney frequently mentions how teachers at the school would help him to catch up on work after being away at gymnastic events and practice.

When asked about his return to New Line Learning Courtney said “I have a lot of time for this school, the staff here have done a lot for me when I was younger and I’m always happy to come back. The children asked some great questions and I’m glad they are interested; hopefully they feel inspired and can find something they really enjoy.”

Savan Fatania, the head of Physical Education and Courtney’s former P.E teacher added “Courtney was always respectful to the staff and other students. He was an absolute pleasure to teach and has gone on to not only inspire the current students, but also the teachers at the school.”

Towards the end of his visit Courtney presented Year 8 student Maisy Earle with a signed Commonwealth Games shirt - Maisy was picked for the incredible improvement she has made in gymnastics this year.

Courtney is currently taking a break before training begins for the European Championships held in Glasgow this August.
