New Line Learning Academy is committed to the continuous raising of achievement of all our pupils. Regular attendance is critical if our pupils are to be successful and benefit from the opportunities presented to them.
One of our basic principles is to celebrate success. Good attendance is fundamental to a successful and fulfilling school experience. We actively promote 100% attendance for all our pupils and we use a variety of termly and annual awards to promote good attendance and punctuality.

Rewards and Attendance Streaks
To encourage consistent attendance we have issued a rewards scheme based on attendance streaks. Students who build up a streak of attendance throughout the academic year will continue win better prizes. Those who attend school for the entire year without any unauthorised absences will be entered into a prize draw, treated to a rewards afternoon, have a postcard sent home, and receive a personalised celebratory letter.
The streak rewards are as follows:
|20 Day Streak||
|40 Day Streak||
|60 Day Streak||
|80 Day Streak||
|100 Day Streak||
|130 Day Streak||
|160 Day Streak||
|185 Day Streak||
Our second initiative to encourage consistent attendance is Focus Fortnight. Focus Fortnight requires students to attend school consecutively over a two week period. Students who attend school for an entire two weeks will receive a prize on the last day of term.
School Attendance and Absence - The Law
To view the law regarding school attendance and absences, please click here.
The expectation that pupils will not take holidays in term time is a national expectation rather than just New Line Learning Academy's.
The Head Teacher may authorise absence in “exceptional circumstances” but this must be requested in advance and agreement to each request is at the discretion of the Head Teacher, acting on behalf of the Governing Body (Education (Pupil Registration) (England) Regulations 2006). Each case will be judged on its merits and the Head Teacher’s decision is final. Once the decision not to authorise leave is taken, it cannot be authorised retrospectively.
New Line Learning has a number of attendance ambassadors who help improve and maintain good and excellent attendance and punctuality across the whole school.
The ambassadors are available for students to talk with if they have any attendance concerns. They also help create and distribute the rewards for excellent attendance.
The following students have been elected by their peers and members of staff to complete the duties of attendance ambassadors:
