COVID-19 Email 12/03/2020

Dear Parents/carers,

In view of current circumstances and the rapidity of the spread of the COVID-19 caused by Coronavirus, it has been decided to postpone Sports Fixtures, Parents’ Evening(s) and any other events bringing large group(s) of visitors into the school building during the school day starting Monday 16th March until further notice. Trips/Visits due to take place between 16th March and 3rd April are also postponed.  Rest assured that you will be kept informed of any changes.  As soon as we are able to do so, alternative dates for postponed events/trips (if relevant) will be communicated to you all.  Thank you in advance for your understanding.

Kind Regards

Mr Murphy

COVID-19 Email 02/03/2020

Good Afternoon,

In view of recent developments, I thought you would appreciate an update.

I understand that a number of rumours are circulating on personal social media platforms, all of which are factually inaccurate. We are continuing to work with KCC, The Department for Education and Public Health England.

Please rest assured that we are taking all measures to protect both staff and students.

You will be kept informed of any changes to our current situation, at the moment the school is fully operational.

If you have any health concerns, you should contact NHS 111.

Many thanks in advance for your understanding and cooperation.

Mr Murphy - Headteacher

Italy Trip Email 01/03/2020

Dear Parents/Carers,

As you may be aware over the half term break some of our student body attended a ski trip in Italy.

Although the school trip was not within one of the specific lockdown areas designated by the Italian Government, and as far as we are aware, no staff or pupils have shown any symptoms, the Trust, Chair of Governors and I have taken the decision to ask the staff, students and siblings involved in the ski trip not to attend the Academy for a period of two weeks.

This decision has been taken following communication with colleagues, parents and representatives from Kent County Council. I would like to stress that this is an additional precaution from the advice given by Public Health England in order to reassure all members of the Academy community at an uncertain time.

Please be reassured that we continue to follow all the advice from the relevant government departments, and, as mentioned above, we are being advised at a local level by Kent County Council.

I appreciate that this is a concerning time given the increased media attention at present, but please be assured that we will continue to monitor the situation very closely and will respond accordingly if necessary. It is important to maintain a sense of perspective that the risk to individuals in the UK remains low.

In the unlikely event of a pupil or member of staff being diagnosed as having the virus, we will, of course, follow advice provided by the local Public Health England Health Protection Team, which will be specific to an assessment of our circumstances and setting.

Thank you very much for your support with this matter. If you require any further information, please contact the Academy at 01622 743286 or contact Public Health England.

COVID-19 Email 28/02/2020

Dear Parent/Carer,

We hope you’ve had a wonderful half term break.  We are aware that some people have recently travelled back from being abroad, so in line with advice from the Department of Health and the Department for Education, we are asking anyone who has returned from an area affected by Coronavirus (COVID-19), to self-isolate for the advised time period of two weeks.

This is to ensure we are complying with the national guidance and taking all possible measures to protect our students and staff.

We are reviewing all planned trips abroad on a rolling basis and will keep you updated as and when there is information to share.

Thank you for your support.

If you have any health concerns, you should contact NHS 111.

Kind Regards
