Do you love Dance, Drama, or Music? Are you curious about the world of performance and eager to develop your talent? If you are a pupil joining Year 7 in September and have a genuine enthusiasm for the Performing Arts, the School of Excellence offers the perfect pathway to inspire, challenge, and support your creative journey.
An innovative “Performing Arts School of Excellence” program has been developed devoted to evolving skills in Drama, Dance and Music. This program will offer exciting opportunities to perform cutting-edge theatre, inspire talent, and create innovative performances to successfully gain an RSL grade in Musical Theatre.

What is the School of Excellence?
The School of Excellence is a specialist programme that runs alongside timetabled Performing Arts lessons. It is designed to enhance pupils’ abilities in drama, dance, and music, allowing them to refine their skills and take their passion for performance to the next level.
Through additional training, performance opportunities, and creative challenges, pupils develop confidence, resilience, and a deeper understanding of the Performing Arts industry.

Qualifications
Students in Years 9, 10, and 11 will have the opportunity to take part in the RSL Performance Arts Award in Musical Theatre at Grades 4, 5, and 6. This highly regarded qualification runs alongside students’ GCSE studies and provides an excellent platform to develop performance skills, confidence, and industry knowledge.
Achieving the Level 6 qualification is particularly valuable, as it carries UCAS tariff points, supporting progression to further and higher education. This programme offers a fantastic opportunity for students who are passionate about musical theatre to gain an additional, nationally recognised qualification.

Opportunities
The School of Excellence provides a wide range of exciting opportunities, including:
- Trips to professional theatre productions, locally and in London’s West End
- Workshops and performances led by industry professionals
- Regular performance opportunities such as winter and summer showcases
- Music concerts, dance shows, and the school’s annual musical production
