Voice 21 Oracy

Proud to Be a Voice 21 School

At New Line Learning Academy, we are proud to be a Voice 21 School, placing speaking, listening and communication at the heart of learning.

Voice 21 is a national organisation that supports schools in developing students' oracy skills – the ability to express ideas clearly, listen carefully to others and communicate with confidence.

We believe that every student deserves the opportunity to find their voice and be heard.

Why Oracy Matters

Strong communication skills are essential for success in school, future education, employment and everyday life. Through regular opportunities to speak, listen, discuss and debate, students learn how to:

  • Express their ideas with confidence
  • Listen respectfully to different viewpoints
  • Ask thoughtful questions
  • Work collaboratively with others
  • Present and explain their thinking clearly
  • Build confidence in a range of situations

These skills help students become successful learners and prepare them for life beyond the classroom.

Oracy Across the Curriculum

Oracy is embedded throughout our curriculum and school community. Students regularly take part in activities that encourage discussion, collaboration and presentation across all subjects.

Whether they are explaining their reasoning in Mathematics, debating ideas in English, presenting findings in Science or sharing opinions in PSHE, students are continually developing their communication skills.

Developing Confident Young People

Our goal is for every student to leave New Line Learning Academy as a confident, articulate and respectful communicator.

By nurturing students' voices, we help them develop the confidence to contribute positively to their communities, advocate for themselves and engage meaningfully with the world around them.

Through our partnership with Voice 21, we are helping our students flourish academically, socially and personally, ensuring they are well prepared for their futures.
